Allach Porcelain was produced in the small German town of Allach just outside of Munich between the years of 1936 and 1945. In 1936 the "Porzellan Manufaktur Allach" was acquired by the SS Division under the National Socialist German Workers' Party. The leader of the SS Heinrich Himmler, known for his obsession with socialism, saw the state acquisition of a porcelain factory as a way to establish an industrial base for the production of works of art that would be representative of the victory of socialism in Germany.

Surprisingly, the majority of items produced at Allach as collectables included blatant imagery associated with German Socialist ideology.  The Allach symbol is entwined "S" letters as a reference to the "SS" or more generally to "state socialism" as symbolized by the swastika as the symbol of the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

It was these unique circumstances that made it possible for the very best Artists, Designers, Potters and all persons associated with the manufacture of fine porcelain to be taken from the many world-famous factories that existed in Germany at that time, such as Dresden, Berlin, Rosenthal, Nymphenburg, etc., and be employed at the previously virtually unknown factory at Allach.

The most known artists being Carl Diebitsch, Prof. Theodor Kärner, Richard Förster, Ottmar Obermaier, Prof. Benno von Arndt, Prof. Wilhelm Krieger, Prof. Willy Zügel, Adolf Röhring, Wilhelm Neuhäuser.

The fall of German National Socialism brought an end to the Allach concern. The Allach factories were shut down in 1945 and never reopened.

It was the unique concentration of talent made available for its production that enabled Allach porcelain to be of such a high quality, and consequently extremely desirable. This, combined with the short period of its existence, will in due course, make the finer pieces extremely difficult to find, and command much higher prices than those currently being asked by dealers not astute enough to realise the potential of the items in their possession.

Allach porcelains were recently offered in auction at Hermann Historica
