U.S. Springfield Model 1847 Artillery Sappers and Miners Muskatoon
.69 caliber, 26-inch round polished steel barrel with open sights and bayonet lug.
Breech marked: V/P/[eaglehead]. Polished steel lock marked: [spread
eagle]/U.S./Spring/field/1855. Standard walnut stock. No inspector cartouche present.
Steel ramrod. Sling mounts.
Condition: Excellent. Steel remaining bright with no pitting in
evidence. Wood excellent and near mint. An exceptional example.
Note: Only 830 of this model were manufactured and 228 of these were altered to this
configuration. This example is one of the finest in existence.
